Last time, we found out that Elder Goban enjoys a good read of the Oxford Dictionary, and that he even researched some of the tricky words in the comments to find their true meanings. ...it's probably OK to talk about Street Fighter Club.
Last night, Capcom invited a select group of diehard Street Fighter fans to the seediest part of downtown Los Angeles to participate in an underground fight club of sorts. The plan? Spend an evening trying out the latest installment in the Street Fighter series, Street Fighter IV. What transpired in that run down industrial warehouse on the wrong side of the tracks? Ign.com is reporting that although Mega Man 9 will only be distributed as a digital download for all three major consoles, Capcom has created some intentionally bad box art that harkens back to the to the glory days of Mega Man 1 & 2 for the NES. Just when we thought that the PS3 had turned the corner and was starting to build some momentum heading into fourth quarter of 2008, the PS3 has suffered a major setback. One that even the once mighty Sony may not be able to recover from. Square Enix has announced today that Final Fantasy XIII will not be a PS3 exclusive. For some added sand to the eyes and a boot to the yam sack, FF XIII will apparently launch on the same date for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in the US and Europe.
We'd like to say we're surprised by this announcement, but considering Square Enix has yet to develop a game for the PS3 while throwing its support behind the Xbox 360 and NDS, this was kind of expected. Besides, small installed user base divided by high development costs equals no exclusivity for the PS3. As the days pass, it's becoming apparent that the PS3 will be the Gamecube of this generation - good first party titles, but not much beyond that.
This quite possibly might be the biggest announcement for the Nintendo Wii since Super Mario Galaxy. Capcom has decided to release a brand new Rockman game for the Nintendo Wii. So what makes this Rockman game so special compared to the scores of Rockman games that have been released to date? It's being released as a Wii-ware title in classic 8-bit glory.
